HardWho Holds The Record For Most Time Spent In Space?
Answer: Sergei Krikalev
When it comes to sheer amount of time spent in space, there isn’t an astronaut that can hold a candle to Sergei Konstantinovich Krikalev. Between 1988 and 2005, Krikalev spent a whopping 803 days in space divided across six missions.
Prior to Krikalev, the record for most time in space belonged to another Russian cosmonaut Sergei Avdeyev–Krikalev passed Avdeyev’s 748-day record during his last stay aboard the International Space Station in 2005.
Bonus Trivia: In additional to logging the most hours in space, Krikalev has also been informally dubbed “the last Citizen of the USSR” as he was aboard the MIR space station between May of 1991 and March of 1992 during the dissolution of the Soviet Union.
