HardWhich Tech Firm’s Headquarters Makes A Cameo As The Cyberdyne Headquarters In Terminator Genisys?
Answer: Oracle
If you’re a Bay Area resident, or just an aficionado of Silicon Valley architecture, you might have noticed something striking in Terminator Genisys: the styling of the Cyberdyne headquarters.
The fictional headquarters in the film is modeled, practically steel beam for steel beam and glass sheet for glass sheet, on the Oracle world headquarters. There are a few flourishes, the tops of the buildings all have an angular atrium like projection, but the resemblance is striking. Both the real Oracle campus and the Cyberdyne campus have the following distinct features: a large saw-shaped reflecting pool, five cylindrical blue-glass buildings, an arc shaped building at the end of the reflecting pool, and a frame of trees around the front of the buildings and the reflecting pool along a perfectly straight road edging the longest side of the pool.
Where the similarities really take a fun twist, however, is when you consider who produced the film. Terminator Genisys was produced by Megan Ellison and David Ellison, the children of, you guessed it, Oracle founder Larry Ellison. Perhaps if we’re interested in stopping the eventual takeover and destruction of the human race by Skynet, then we need to keep an eye on what Mr. Ellison is up to.
