Answer: A Clockwork Orange
The first Sci-Fi film to be nominated for a Best Picture Oscar was A Clockwork Orange in 1971. The film was adapted by Stanley Kubrick from the 1962 Anthony Burgess novel of the same title. Kubrick’s adaptation was critically acclaimed and, in addition to being nominated for Best Picture, was also nominated for Best Director, Best Film Editing, and Best Adapted Screenplay.
