HardWhich Of These Icons Of Horror Also Had A Cooking Show?
Answer: Vincent Price
Today, Vincent Price is best remembered for his distinctive voice and his contributions to cinema, most notably the thriller and horror genre. What most people don’t realize, however, is that in addition to being the iconic voice of mid-century horror in America, Price was also an accomplished gourmet chef.
So accomplished, in fact, that he authored several cook books with his wife Mary like A Treasury of Great Recipes in 1965, a large five-volume series Mary and Vincent Price present a National Treasury of Cookery in 1967, and several others over the years. In 1971, he even hosted his own cooking show Cooking Price-Wise with Vincent Price for six weeks wherein he guided the audience through preparations of authentic cuisine from around the world.
What’s most notable about his cookbooks and especially his television show was Price’s push to expose people to different and new dishes. At the time his TV show aired in the 1970s, it was very uncommon for people to eat food outside their own cultural groups and Price wanted to break people out of the mold of eating just the dishes their mothers had passed down to them.
