HardWhich Nation’s Flag Includes A Nod To The United Nations?
Answer: Somalia
The Somali flag was adopted in 1954 and features a simple five pointed star against a light blue background. The star is known as the Star of Unity and represents the five major regions of the world where those of Somali descent are found: Djibouti, the Ogaden region of Ethiopia, the North Eastern Province in Kenya, and the former British and Italian territories that now constitute modern day Somalia.
The blue background is the same shade as the blue of the United Nations flag and is a direct nod to the role the United Nations played in reuniting the fragmented regions of Somalia into a unified country and restoring the country to the Somali people.
