HardWhich Country Was The First To Ban Video Games?
Answer: Greece
On July 30, 2002, Greece became the first country in the world to completely ban video games. While it would be easy to assume the country had been whipped into some sort of anti-video game frenzy before the Greek government banned the games, the banning was actually a side effect of a hastily put together and poorly-reviewed gambling bill.
Law 3037, intended to halt illegal computer-based gambling, inadvertently banned all electronic entertainment in the country. The law was quickly amended to exclude any electronic entertainment in which there was no financial gain for the players or third parties.
