Murphy’s Law is an adage typically stated as “Anything that can go wrong, will go wrong” and is used in a wide variety of fields, hobbies, and endeavours to caution that systems fail and everything should be checked, rechecked, and catastrophes prepared for.

There is an inverse to Murphy’s Law, however, both figuratively and literally, known as “Yphrum’s Law” typically stated as “Everything, that can work, will work” and is used to describe how systems that should not function do so despite the prediction that they will fail.
