The Racquet Sport With The Fastest Projectile Is?
Badminton is a racquet sport played with small lightweight racquets and an even smaller serving object known as a shuttlecock. In many ways, the game is similar to other racquet sports: you have a racquet, a net, a court, and the goal is to serve or return the shuttlecock over the net and land it on your opponents side of the court without them returning it.
Where it differs significantly is in the speed department. Tennis serves seem quite fast, but the fastest recorded serve in tennis was a mere 163.4 miles per hour (263 kilometers per hour). By contrast, the fastest recorded badminton serve, or smash, was 264.7 miles per hour (426 kilometers per hour). Part of this has to do with the lightness of a shuttlecock compared to the weight of a tennis ball, but part of it has to do with the method of swinging. Because a shuttlecock is lighter, badminton players can play with a looser and more flexible wrist which allows for a much more forceful strike.
