In Which Sci-Fi Franchise Did An Actor Marry The Real-Life Daughter Of His On-Screen Predecessor?
Answer: Doctor Who
David Tennant is best known for his role in the long-running British sci-fi show Doctor Who. Tennant played the 10th Doctor from 2005-2010 and reprised the role briefly in 2013.
Not only did he have a successful on-screen run as The Doctor, but the role was a boon to his personal life too. During the filming of the Doctor Who episode “The Doctor’s Daughter”, he met his wife Georgia Moffett (now Georgia Tennant). The irony of the whole setup is that on-screen she was the daughter of the The Doctor and off-screen, she was also the daughter of The Doctor–a previous Doctor that is. Georgia’s father is Peter Davison, who played the 5th Doctor in the series during the 1980s.
By such a roundabout route, one Doctor married the daughter of his predecessor.
