HardIn 2012 Taco Bell Airlifted A Truck Filled With Tacos To?
Answer: Bethel, Alaska
In 2012, someone plastered fliers all over the small Alaskan town of Bethel, Alaska (pop. ~6,100) advertising for a soon-to-be-opened Taco Bell. The locals were rather excited as a new restaurant, even a modest one like a Taco Bell, is a pretty big deal when you live in rural Alaska and 400 miles from your state’s largest city.
Unfortunately for the poor residents of Bethel, it turned out to be a hoax by a pair of local pranksters. Fortunately, on the other hand, Taco Bell caught wind of the story and decided to combine goodwill and good public relations into a tasty package.
The company airlifted a taco truck loaded with 10,000 tacos worth of supplies to the remote village and fed the whole town the tacos they craved. In an interview with the press, Taco Bell CEO Greg Creed explained, “If we can feed people in Afghanistan and Iraq, we can feed people in Bethel.”
