HardIn 2006, Astronomers Discovered A 288 Billion Mile Wide Cloud Of What?
Answer: Alcohol
In 2006, astronomers at the Jodrell Bank Observatory in Cheshire, England located a large and rather curious cloud located within the Milky Way. This large cloud, spanning 288 billion miles from tip-to-tip, is composed almost entirely of alcohol–more alcohol than you’d find in trillions of bottles of liquor.
For those of you ready to launch a space expedition to retrieve all that alcohol, however, prepare to be disappointed: it’s a cloud of methanol alcohol (the kind humans use for industrial purposes) and not ethanol alcohol (the kind we distill for drinking).
