Amanda Prahl

Amanda Prahl is a freelance contributor to MindBounce. Her expertise focuses on literature, history, and arts and culture.

Amanda is a full-time writer and a former faculty associate at Arizona State University, where she created and taught university-level courses in theater, film, and writing. Her articles have appeared on HowlRound, Slate, Bustle, BroadwayWorld, and ThoughtCo, among others. Amanda has also contributed articles to Chegg, where she advises students on writing, grammar, and navigating the academic and professional worlds

Amanda is also a working playwright, lyricist, and dramaturg. Her plays and musicals have appeared at numerous festivals and new works series, and she has been recognized as a finalist for several awards in the arts/theatre. In both her academic and her creative work, Amanda enjoys centering the lesser-known stories of women in history.

When she's not working, Amanda loves discovering new books, shows, podcasts, and music. She's a lifelong baker (thanks, Mom!) and has strong opinions about coffee, Broadway, and Oxford commas.

Amanda received an MFA in Dramatic Writing from Arizona State University. Her master's thesis/applied project, Til Death, is a musical exploring the themes of history and nostalgia. Prior to that, she earned a B.A. in English (with a Literature focus) and a B.A. in Political Science from Arizona State.
